Deere Reveals Its First Electric Backhoe

John Deere revealed its first electric backhoe, the 310X, at the 2021 Utility Expo. The 310X belongs to the X Tier, Deere's highest performance category, which includes hybrid and electric equipment.

Designed to match the diesel-powered 310L spec for spec, the 310X was tested in collaboration with National Grid, one of the largest utility companies in the U.S. Operators reported comparable power and performance to the 310L, with added benefits of quieter operation and zero emissions.

John Deere is still conducting long-term testing, targeting 8-10 hours of battery life, and evaluating various charging solutions. The 310X generates 20-25% less noise and offers reduced maintenance and ownership costs - ideal for noise-sensitive environments.

The machine is not yet for sale, and Deere plans additional years of testing before a public release.
